This exquisitely illustrated set of 12 double-sided endangered animals is a wonderful way to nurture a child’s understanding of our fragile natural world and inspire them to care for it.
Members of each family face each other for extra play value. This also works across families, increasing opportunities for imaginary play and the development of storytelling skills. The flat bases allow the animals to be used in an upright position to better facilitate such play.
One side of each piece depicts a male/female adult, with each reverse showing a related baby in a different pose, enabling children to sort and compare the animals based on their attributes. This can be enhanced by studying the artwork with a magnifier. There are also clues to the habitats of the animals, providing a stimulus for discussion and the sharing of ideas.
The set is divided in to six families: elephant, orangutan, panda, rhinoceros, snow leopard, and tiger.
