These delightful ladybug stones and activity cards are an ideal way to encourage children to develop early mathematical skills, subitising, understanding of odd and even numbers, addition, subtraction, and to explore counting to 20.ย

With bright photographic images, the cards provide a range of engaging activities to use with the ladybug stones, including counting forwards and backwards on leaf number lines, and around the petals of a flower, as well as finding suitable ladybug homes in a forest and a log pile.ย

ย These tactile resources are robust enough to be used inside and out and will inspire much discussion as children explore early number through matching, counting, ordering, pairs, and number bonds.ย

  1. Kimberley Munro, Blue Grass Purple Cow Nursery

The children enjoyed touching them, lining them up, finding them under leaves (we used them for positional language development) and using them in a playscape/nature environment situation.

  2. PPS Awards Tester

The ladybugs were very popular with the children and easily invited counting of the spots. They engaged well with the activity and they are good for early maths and language. There was a variety of them, some with numbers and some with pictures which kept the activity open so children could go in their own direction
